Bad Bad Brains
New poster for the upcoming Winnipeg show by Montreal psychobillies The Brains. This one was inspired by that creepy scene in Attack of the Giant Leeches where voluptuous harlot Yvette Vickers and some swamp hicks are exsanguinated by giant leeches in a slimy aquatic grotto. Stay tuned for MORE EVIL BRAIN ACTION!

Positively DOA
Poster art for the upcoming DOA show here in Winnipeg. These guys have been one of my fave punk combos since the very early '80s so it was a real wild kinda thrill to get to do a poster for 'em. We are doing a limited run of signed and numbered silkscreen posters of this one which should be pretty cool. Stay tuned for MORE TALK-ACTION=ZERO ACTION!

Evil Is As Evil Does
Just finished this LP/CD design for the debut full length by creepy Brit garage combo Thee Eviltones. The front cover was vaguely inspired by the giant demon in the classic 1957 horror epic Curse Of the Demon. Stay tuned for MORE ACTION!

That's Cool, That's Trash
Here's the cover art for the upcoming LP by Argentinian one man band Trash Colapso. My idea for this one was to have it look like one of those weird, primitive religious albums you see in thrift stores. 'Cuz weird, primitive and religious are where it's at, Jack. Incidentally this is the first one man band I've done a sleeve for since the one I did for a Hasil Adkins record way back in 2001. More stuff comin' soon so... Stay tuned for MORE ACTION!

Back To The Jungle
Here's the cover art for Volume 2 of the Brazilian Nuggets series. These comps are gonna feature the wildest and most obscure rock'n'roll 45s to come outta the '60s scene in Brazil. Volume 1 is being pressed even as we speak (check the archives of this blog for the sleeve art of that) and this one should follow soon. Plans are for me to do the cover for Volume 3 as well. Saucer Attack!
Here's the cover art for the ultra cool, long awaited Roctober interview compilation tome, Flying Saucers Rock'n'Roll! This astonishing volume features in depth interviews with amazing musicians like our three cover stars, Sam The Sham, Zory Zenith (the singer of Zolar X) and Sugar Pie DeSanto. Also included are 10 interior illustrations by your old pal King Merinuk! I'm not sure of the exact release date but it should be out by this summer. Stay tuned for MORE ACTION!

Zombies In My Garage Part 2
Here's the artwork for the new LP by French garage fiends The Mean Things. This one will be coming out very soon on hep German label Soundflat Records. The art is kind of a sequel to the drawing I did for their first album, which you can find elsewhere on this very blog. More stuff coming soon, so... Stay tuned for MORE ACTION!

Havana A Go Go
Here's the poster for an upcoming benefit fundraiser for Solidarity Rock, a project aimed at strengthening ties between the Cuban and Canadian punk rock scenes. I just did the illustration for this with the final design being masterminded by local punk rock graphic design maestro (and Kids On Fire drummer) Steve Hallick. The moshin' Castro drawing is of course an homage to Shawn Kerri's famous Skankman logo used by the Circle Jerks. I'm finishing up several projects right now so should have some more new stuff for ya real soon. Stay tuned for MORE ACTION!

News Of The Saucers
Latest word is that Flying Saucers Rock'n'Roll, the amazin' compilation volume of wigged out interview action from the august pages of Roctober magazine which I have been blabbin' about since the very beginning of this here blog will finally be hitting the streets sometime in the spring or summer of 2011. In fact I have just agreed to draw the cover art for this epic tome to go along with the 10 interior illustrations that I drew back in 2009. To celebrate this thrilling news flash, here's another illo from the book featuring outlaw country legend David Allan Coe. This career spanning DAC interview is probably the single best and most astonishing conversation in Roctober history. In fact, it's actually the thing that made me the huge DAC fan that I am today, so I was super-stoked to get to do this illustration to accompany its reappearance in FSR&R. More info on the book (and maybe a sneak peek at the cover art) as we get closer to the street date. Stay tuned for MORE ACTION!

Big Drag
Here's another unpublished oldie from the vintage vault. This was supposed to be a 7" sleeve for speed-crazed Spanish garage punk combo Los Ass Draggers featuring a track spun offa their debut LP Abbey Roadkill. Jorge from Dr. Explosion was gonna put this out on his Thunderpussy Records label but that fell through for some reason and later there was some talk about Crypt Records puttin' it out but that never happened either so it is now making its grand debut right here in the Rubber Room. More cryptic crud comin' at you real soon so... Stay tuned for MORE ACTION!

Recycled Trash
Just finished putting together this sleeve design for a forthcoming 7" by trashy British punks The Unreleasables. This is actually an old drawing which I have updated and kustomized for this sleeve. You can find the original version in the archives of this blog if you care to dig around a bit. Stay tuned for MORE ACTION!

Hamzig 4p-i-g
The current issue of Roctober has been out for a couple months now so I guess it's okay to post up this latest Hamzig installment as published therein. If you haven't picked up Roctober #48 yet, get over to www.roctober.com and grab it, cuz it's yet another king-sized cornucopia of the wildest weirdness (un)popular culture has to offer. Should have some more new stuff to post in the next few days so... Stay tuned for MORE ACTION!

Rock Madness!
I drew this poster back in 2002 for a benefit show featuring a bunch of Winnipeg's best rock'n'roll combos. Squareheads singer and local rock legend Anthony Bueno was the instigator of this madness, which included the debut performance by local heroines The Quiffs. A bunch of these bands appeared on the Winnipeg Riot! compilation so dig up a copy of that CD if you wanna get a taste of what these shows were like. Stay tuned for MORE ACTION!

Super Rock Team-Up
Here's a poster I finished a few days back for a cool upcoming show featuring a bunch of bands associated with Winnipeg's only rock'n'roll record label, Transistor 66. This piece was inspired by a few hours I recently spent perusing a bunch of mid-'70s Marvel comics that I bought when I was a kid. That may seem like a pretty oddball thing to be influenced by (especially considering how terrible most of those comics are) but never fear, without a doubt I'll find something even more inane to pay homage to in the not-too-distant future. Stay tuned for MORE ACTION!
